'Drug trader' killed in gunfight


A suspected drug trader was killed in 'an exchange of fire' between two groups in Sadar upazila of Satkhira district early Friday.

Deceased Masnsur Sheikh, was a resident in Shyamnagar upazila. He was an accused in 14 cases filed under the Narcotics Control Act, said Mostafizur Rahman, officer in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station.

A gunfight took place between two groups of drug traders in Bankal area at early hours, said OC Mostafizur.

Later, locals spotted the bullet-hit body of a man this morning and informed police.

Police recovered the body and identified it as Mansur.

Police also recovered arms and drugs from the spot, the OC added.
