Convict Hakim dies at Rajshahi hospital

A convict in a case filed over the attack on the train carrying then opposition leader Sheiksh Hasina died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Thursday.
Deceased Hakim Uddin, 60, awarded life term imprisonment by a Pabna court, hailed from Ishwardi upazila.
Habibur Rahman, jailer of Rajshahi Central Jail, said Hakim was admitted to the hospital with cardiac problem on August 10 and died around 12.30pm today (Thursday).
On July 9, he was shifted to Rajshahi Central Jail from Pabna Jail with cardiac problem and was admitted to the hospital as his health condition deteriorated.
On July 3, a court in Pabna convicted nine people, including Hakim, and sentenced them to death in the case.
Miscreants opened fire and hurled bombs targeting a Rajshahi-bound train carrying Sheikh Hasina when it reached Pakshey Railway Station on September 23, 1994.
