Dengue claims two more lives in Dhaka

Two people, including a woman, died of viral fever dengue in the capital on Tuesday evening.

Of the victims, Khadiza Akhter Nila, 27, wife of Md Monir Hossain of Dayaganj in city's Gandaria, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday evening

Hospitals sources confirmed the matter on Wednesday.

Family members said Nila was diagnosed with dengue on the day of Eid-ul-Azha and admitted to a local hospital.

She was shifted to the DMCH on August 16 following deterioration of her condition. She died at the Medicine department at about 7pm.

Meanwhile, an unidentified man died at  Mitford Hospital on Tuesday night, said hospital’s Assistant Director Dr Abdur Rashid.

According to Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room of the Health Directorate, 1,626 more people infected with dengue and hospitalised in last 24 hours from 8am on Tuesday to 8am on Wednesday.
