Victim killed after rape: Police

Madrasa girl Asma Akter, whose body was recovered from the toilet of an abandoned bogie of a train at Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station on Monday, had been killed after rape, an autopsy report said.
Eighten-year-old Asma, daughter of Abdur Razzak from Konpara village in Sadar upazila of Panchagarh, has been strangulated to death, police disclosed after conducting autopsy of the body on Tuesday.
On Monday, police recovered the body of Asma, from the toilet of an
abandoned bogie of a train of Balaka Express, said Rasho Banik, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dhaka Railway Police Station.
Asma passed Dakhil examination (equivalent to Secondary School Certificate or SSC) from Khan Bahadur Mokhlesur Rahman Madrasa.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Forensic Department Lecturer Dr Pradip Biswas said they have found injury marks on the girl's throat while conducting the autopsy. And they have also found evidence that she has been strangled after rape.
Our Panchagarh correspondent said Asma's uncle Md Raju lodged a case with Kamalapur GRP Police Station accusing Maruf Hasan Badhan, a resident of the area, in this connection.
Family members said Asma went out of home on Sunday morning without telling them anything and in the following morning they came to know from the police that their daughter was found dead at Kamalapur Railway Station.
Shefali Begum, mother of the victim, said they came to know that Asma had an affair with Badhan and she eloped with him.
Since the teenage girl's body was recovered, Badhan went missing and his mobile phone was found switched off, she added.
