Body in train bogie: Asma was murdered after rape
Madrasa girl Asma Akter, who was found dead in a toilet of an abandoned compartment of a train at Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station on Monday, had been strangled after rape.
The autopsy, conducted on the body of 18-year-old girl on Tuesday, found the evidence of rape and murder, said police.
Police recovered the body of Asma from the toilet of an abandoned bogie of 'Balaka Express', said Rasho Banik, sub-inspector (SI) of Dhaka Railway Police Station.
Daughter of Abdur Razzak from Konpara village in Sadar upazila of Panchagarh, Asma passed Dakhil examination (equivalent to Secondary School Certificate) from Khan Bahadur Mokhlesur Rahman Madrasa.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) forensic department lecturer Dr Pradip Biswas told reporters that evidence of rape and strangulation was found in the postmortem. Brsides, injury marks were also found on the girl's throat, he added.
Our Panchagarh correspondent said Asma's uncle Md Razu lodged a case with Kamalapur GRP Police Station accusing Maruf Hasan Badhan, a resident in the area.
Family members said Asma went out of home on Sunday morning without informing them anything and they came to know about her death the next morning.
Shefali Begum, mother of the victim, also said they have been informed that Asma had a love affair with Badhan and she eloped with him.
Since her daughter's body was recovered, Badhan went missing and his mobile phone was found switched off, she added.
