DNCC combing operation begins

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Tuesday launched a combing operation in the city to control the menace of Aedes mosquito that spreads dengue fever.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam formally inaugurated the operation at Dr Fazle Rabbi Park in posh Gulshan area this morning.
The DNCC mayor said “We split a ward into 10 blocks and each block divided into 10 sub-blocks. This operation will continue every day. We should work together with mass people to tackle the dengue menace.”
He asked the city dwellers to join the cleanliness campaign with them and keep houses clean every day.
“DNCC teams will visit every house during the operation. They will check for Aedes mosquito larvae in these houses. Action will be taken if Aedes larvae are found there,” he added.
Bishwo Shahitto Kendro founder Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, DNCC chief executive officer Abdul Hye, chief health officer Muminur Rahman Mamun and chief waste management officer Manzur Hossain were also present during the drive.
