ACC arrests FR Tower owner Tasvir

Anti-Corruption Commi-ssion (ACC) on Sunday arrested the Managing Director of Quasem Drycell and BNP leader Tasvir ul Islam in the Banani's FR Tower corruption case.
A team led by ACC Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddique arrested them from Segunbagicha area in the capital.
Tasvir also the landowner of FR Tower added illegal floors to the building by tampering with the original design of the structure.
ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matters.
According to sources, Tasvir is a central committee
member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and party president of Kurigram district.
Earlier on June 25, Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddiqui of the graft watchdog filed two cases against 23 people over irregularities and corruption regarding the construction of FR Tower at the capital's posh Banani area.
BNP leader Tasvir and Rupayan Group Chairman Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul were named in the cases.
On March 28, a deadly fire in FR Tower claimed 26 lives and injured more than 70 others.
Multiple inquiries were opened to probe the incident and identify the ones responsible for the tampering of the design that ended up killing and injuring so many people.
On July 30, ACC arrested Assistant Director of RAJUK Shah Md Badrul Alam in the same case.
