Woman 'hacked dead by husband'

A woman was hacked to death allegedly by her husband in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenidah early Saturday.

Deceased Firoza Khatun, 50, was the wife of Abdul Quddus, a resident of Uttarpara of Sejia village under Nepa union.

Locals said, Abdul Quddus had an altercation with his wife after returning home at early hours in a drunken condition.

At one stage of quarrel, he hacked Firoza to death.

Later this morning, he himself informed the neighbour.

Being informed, police visited the scene and recovered the body, said Maheshpur Police Station officer in-charge Rashidul Alam.

The body was sent to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital morgue.

Police, however, detained Quddus from the spot.
