Three univ students among four killed in Narsingdi road crash

Four people, including three university students, were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a private car in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi district early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as: Akib Hossain, 27; Jannatul Ferdous, 25; Sadia Akter, 24; and Sadia's husband Ekram Mia, 35. All of them were passengers of the private car.
Of the four, Akib, Jannatul and Sadia were students of MBA programme at Millenium University in the capital.
The accident took place around 2.00am in Karar Char area of Dhaka-Sylhet highway when they were returning to the capital after a trip to Sylhet.
According to the police and fire service, a Sylhet-bound bus of Shyamoli Paribahan collided with a Dhaka-bound private car, leaving three people dead on the spot and another injured.
Shafiqul Islam, deputy assistant director of the fire service in Narsingdi, said, "A Shyamoli Paribahan bus from Dhaka slammed into a private car coming from the opposite direction. The car was mangled in the collision, leaving three passengers dead on the spot. Another passenger succumbed to his injuries soon after admission to the in the hospital."
Critically injured five people were admitted to Narsingdi Zila Hospital where another one died, he said. "The injured were Later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)" he added.
According to the fire service officials, the firefighters,being informed by locals, rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies. Police have initially attributed the accident to reckless driving.
"They were returning to Dhaka from Sylhet after attending a picnic," said Sergeant Jakrul Kabir of Itakhola Highway Police Outpost.
In Rajshahi, a motorcyclist was killed and two others were wounded in a road accident in Godagari upazila of the district, reports our correspondent on Friday.
The accident took place at Kadipur area on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway around 8:00pm.
The deceased was identified as Mominul Haque, 16, son of Muradul Islam of Kochua village of the upazila.
The two injured-- Rakib, 22, and Shakib, 24-- were sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment.
