Dengue and chikungunya are viral fevers and Aedes mosquito is the carrier of these viruses. Aedes mosquitoes lay eggs in the clean still water remaining in pots and other places inside or outside the house. Therefore, it must be ensured that water does not stay in the water tank in basement, containers used for construction works, water meter of WASA, unused buckets, drums, flower pots, underneath ac or refrigerator etc. Moreover, water must be stopped from staying on the rooftop, courtyard or damp places between two buildings. They should be cleaned every three days.
A dengue patient must be kept inside the mosquito net. Doctor's consultation is required if the fever seems like dengue or chikungunya. Medicine should not be given before that. The patient needs nutritional food and sufficient fluid. The patient can drink tender coconut water, lemon juice, watermelon juice, orange juice, chicken soup etc. At least for 4 to 8 days, soup made of tender chicken, beef or mutton liver can be given 2 cups a day.
Recipe for chicken soup: 1 tender chicken should be mashed after cleaning properly. 1 teaspoon ginger flakes, 1 teaspoon garlic flakes, 1 tablespoon onion flakes, 1 cardamom, half inch of cinnamon, salt (as required) and 4 glasses of water should be added to it.
