3 accomplices of ex-BCL leader sent to jail
Three accomplices of former president Mohammadpur Thana Chhatra League Mujahid Azmi Tanna accused of mugging 212 sacrificial goats were sent to jail after a one-day remand.
Mujahid Azmi Tanna himself is the main accused in the case of mugging incident.
Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chanra Mondal passed the order, said GRO Ronop Bakhta on Thursday .
Those who were sent jail are Yasir Arafat (28) Jahidul Islam (29) Md Raihan (20).
On August 12, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court placed them on a one-day remand for interrogation.
Police sources said former president of Mohammadpur Thana Chhatra League Mujahid Azmi Tanna and nine of his followers were involved in the sacrificial animal mugging bid.
A Cattle trader of Jashore Saiful Islam filed the case on august 11 against the accused.
In the complaint, the cattle trader alleged that a group of cattle traders brought 212 goats from Jhenaidah on August 11.
Those Chhatra League leaders detained their truck at Jahuri Mahalla on the Babar Road of Muhammadpur and demanded money.
On information, an executive magistrate of the Rapid Action Battalion-2 rushed to the stop and rescued the cattle traders and detained three suspected extortionists identified by the cattle traders.
The battalion handed the detained three to Mohammadpur Police Stations and the three later named the six others.
The other five accused are Jashim (22), Ratul (22) Tanvir (20) Hira (20) and Tanmay (25).
A case was by RAB-2 under Telecommunication Act.
