ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019
Tigresses fly to Netherlands
Bangladesh National Women's Cricket Team left Dhaka for the Netherlands on Thursday to take part in a 10-day preparatory camp ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 in Scotland commencing from August 31.
Defending champions Bangladesh will play Papua New Guinea in the starter of the tournament on inaugural day. Tigresses will meet the USA girls on September 1 and wild cat known Scottish Women on September 3. Both semifinals of the fixture will be held on September 5 and the final on September 7. Salma and Co. also get to play a warm-up match against Netherlands women on 29 August, two days before the main competition roll on.
Bangladesh girls will take on Scotland, PNG and the USA in Group A, while Group B consists of Ireland, Thailand, Namibia, and the Netherlands. Two matches will be played in a day and the first one will commence at 3:00pm (BST) and the second game will begin at 7:00 pm (BST).
The eight teams are divided into two groups to decide the semifinalists, with the winners of the two semifinals ensuring a place at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 to be held in the Australia next year.
Bangladesh are going to play the tournament without their star player Rumana Ahmed, who ruled out of the tournament for a leg injury. Couple of new rookies were named in for the crucial tournaments from among the leading performers of HP team during recent visit in South Africa. But still Bangladesh are the hot favourite side of the series.
