CWASA appoints consultant for sewerage project
CHATTOGRAM, Aug 14: The Chattogram Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (CWASA) is now going to implement sewerage project after 60 years of its establishment.
The CWASA Board had approved the appointment of Erinco SDN BHD, a Malaysian firm as the consultant for the project in a Board meeting held on August 9 last. Project Director Ariful Islam said that the proposal will be sent to the ministry for final approval. The proposal will be approved by the Cabinet Purchase committee which will be finalised after signing with CWASA and the consultant.
He said, earlier, six foreign firms submitted the technical and financial offers for appointment of a consultant for the sewerage project of Chattogram Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (CWASA) on April 15 last. The firms were from Korea, Malaysia, Germany, India, and Spain.
Meanwhile, CWASA management has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) for selection of engineering consultants for engineering design and construction supervision of project for establishment of sewerage in Chattogram metropolitan area (Phase-1).
The project phase-1 includes: 5.8 km deep sewer line, 189.5 km gravity pipes, 3620 manhole and chambers, 3.31 km force mains, realignment of existing utilities, 15 sewerage pump stations, service lines, house connections, dry weather flow interceptors, 100 million litre per day sewerage treatment plant.
