National Mourning Day programmes in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 14: Preparation has been completed to observe National Mourning Day programmes and 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to begin in the district tomorrow.
District administration has chalked out elaborate programmes at a meeting held in the deputy commissioner's conference room on August 3 with DC Md Helal Hossain in the chair.
The programmes included hoisting national flag at half mast atop all organisations, placing floral wreaths at the sculpture of Bangabandhu on Khulna Betar premises, recitation from the holy Quran, discussion meeting, doa mahfil, food distribution among the destitutes, screening documentary film on life sketch of Bangabandhu, and candlelight vigil in front of Bangabandhu's sculpture.
Prize distribution ceremony of essay, art and poem recitation competition will be held in the conference room of the DC office while the Directorate of Youth Development will distribute money among freedom fighters.
Book fair on Bangabandhu and Liberation War will be held at Umesh Chandra Public Library.
Khulna City Corporation (KCC), District Information Office, Islamic Foundation, Khulna Betar, Khulna University (KU), Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Divisional Museum and Archaeology Department, Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ), Khulna WASA, and others social, cultural organisations and educational institutions will also organise separate programmes on the Mourning Day.
Meanwhile, Khulna City and District units of Awami League (AL) and its front organisations have  also taken various programmes to observe the Day.
AL City Unit took the decision of its programme at  a meeting held on August 4 at the party office with unit President Talukder Abdul Khaleque in the chair.
