2 killed, 15 injured in factional clash

Two people were killed and 15 others injured in a factional clash between two rival groups over establishing supremacy in Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Forkan Miah, 28, son of Rafat Ali, and Sharif Miah, son of Abdul Qadir, residents of Maijchar village in the upazila. They were cousins.
Quoting the locals, Bajitpur Police Station OC Khalilur Rahman Patwary said Munshi Bari group had a long standing dispute with Bakkar Miah, 6 no. ward member of Maijchar Union Parishad, over establishing supremacy in Maijchar area.
As a sequel to the dispute, Faruque and his brother Anis, supporters of Munshi Bari group, beat up Bakka's brother Mawla on his way to home this morning.
On information, Bakka's followers rushed to the spot that led to the conflict.
At one stage of the conflict, one party opened fire that left 20 people injured.
The injured people were first taken to Bajitpur Upazila Health Complex. Of them, the critically injured were shifted to Jahurul Islam Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Forkan and Sharif dead.
