The government will not break a butterfly on a wheel, said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quder on Monday referring to the issue of Priya Saha.
The Road Transport and Bridges Minister came up with the remark at a press conference at his secretariat office in the capital.
About the statement of Priya Saha who said followed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's statement on torture on minority people during BNP-Jamaat regime, Quader said Sheikh Hasina did not utter anything like 37 million minority people went missing.
Asked whether the government backtracked on sedition charge against Priya Saha, the AL General Secretary said, "It is not the matter. The matter is the apprehension of communal conflict."
He said Priya leads an NGO and she is organising secretary of the Hindu-Buddha-Christian Unity Council. So, we cannot regard it as a paltry issue. "We will take decision on the issue taking into account every aspect."
Quader said, "We do not know whether there is any political ulterior motive in the allegation of Priya Saha to US President."
When the minister was drawn attention to the matter that Priya's husband is an official of Anti-Corruption Commission, Quader said why the husband will be blamed for what her wife did. Why we will invite such matter without any reason, he said.
About the mob justice incidents, he said I have talked with the Home Minister and he told me that the law enforcement agencies are on hard line to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
