Suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Mizanur Rahman  was shown arrested by a Dhaka court on Sunday in a case filed for transaction of Tk 40 lakh as bribe.
Judge KM Imrul Kayesh of Senior Special Judge's Court passed the order after Anti-Corruption Commission Director Sheikh Mohammad Fanafilya submitted a petition to show him arrested in the case, said ACC prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir.
On July 17, the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, Sheikh Mohammad Fanafilya, also ACC Director, made plea before the court to show him arrested in the case.
The court fixed Monday for hearing on the petition.
On July 16, ACC filed the bribery case against suspended DIG Mizan and suspended ACC Director Khandaker Enamul Basir over a transaction of Tk 40 lakh.
The controversial senior police officer Mizan is now in jail in another graft case filed over amassing wealth illegally.
On July 2, the same court sent the suspended police official to jail in a case filed for accumulating over Tk3 crore illegally while concealing information of wealth worth over Tk3 crore.
The ACC filed the case with its Integrated District Office in Dhaka on June 24 against Mizan, his wife Sohelia Anar Ratna, his younger brother Mahbubur Rahman, and nephew Mahmudul Hasan, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of police.
Earlier, DIG Mizan was withdrawn from Dhaka Metropolitan Police as its additional commissioner when allegations surfaced against him of abducting a woman and marrying her forcibly.
The bribery case was filed by Fanafilya against Mizan and suspended ACC Director Khandaker Enamul Basir with its Dhaka District Coordination Office-1 under the Money Laundering Prevention Act.
The suspended DIG came under scanner after a private TV channel recently reported that Mizan gave Tk 40 lakh to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director Khandaker Enamul Basir to get a clean chit in a corruption case.
DIG Mizan was an additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). He was withdrawn on January 9 last year following the allegation of threatening a female news presenter of a private television channel.
He had also reportedly married a woman forcibly and tortured her. Mizan allegedly picked up 25-year-old woman in July 2017 and then forcibly married her.
