Flood situation slightly improved in Kurigram
The overall flood situation in Kurigram district improved slightly although the Brahmaputra and Dharala rivers are flowing above their respective danger levels.
People of the flood hit areas are being affected by water-borne diseases.
Though 85 medical teams were assigned to visit the flood affected areas, but none of the teams was seen in the affected areas in last 10-12 days.
Relief materials distributed by the government and other organisations are not sufficient for the eight lakh people in nine upazilas.
The district administration has, so far, distributed eight metric tonnes of rice, Tk 13.5 lakh in cash and 6,000 packets dry food among the flood-hit people.
According Water Development Board, water level in the Brahmaputra river is flowing 54 centimetres above the danger level at Chitalmari point while the Dharala river is flowing above 11 centimetres at Nunkhaowa point.
