Cattle trader shot dead in Narsingdi
A cattle trader was shot dead and two others received bullet injuries in an attack by robbers in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi on Saturday night.
Deceased Muntaj Miah, 40, son of Sadat Ali, was a resident of Abdullahpur village in the upazila.
Local sources said on board a speed boat carrying a gang of robbers intercepted a trawler of cattle trader in the Meghna River at Charmadhua village around 7.30pm.
The traders came under attack while returning home after selling cattle-heads in Nabinagar upazila.
Being intercepted, they jumped into the river, but the robbers fired gunshots at them, leaving Muntaj dead on the spot two others injured.
Other traders, however, managed to swim ashore.
Injured Manik Miah, 40, and Asad Miah, 35, were taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital. Later, they were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The body was sent to the hospital morgue, said Raipura Police Station officer-in-charge Mohsinul Qadir.
