Pheromone trap used to produce non-poisonous vegetable

DUMURIA, KHULNA, July 19: Sex pheromone trap is being used in farming non-poisonous vegetable at Dumuria Upazila of Khulna.
Using the method, farmers are getting success in preventing pest attack. Besides, it is reducing the rate of chemical poisoning.
Sources said Upazila Agriculture Department gives proper advice to the farmers in using the trap.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Mosaddek Hossen said sex pheromone trap is very important in non-poisonous farming.




Farmers like Sureshwar of Atlia Union in the upazila got benefit by using the trap. Suresh has 50 decimals of land where he cultivated hybrid brinjal. Because of his contribution to farming, he received Bangabandhu National Agriculture Award in 2016.  Farmers said, compost fertiliser and sex pheromone trap have created a new era in non-poisonous vegetable farming.
