Culinary art is an important and exciting career around the world. In our country, of late both male and female choose this particular art as their profession, in many cases. And they thrived here intriguingly with pride.
We know culinary artist as cooking expert.
Now ‘Cooking Show’ private TV channel and social media is becoming much-awaited and interested to people. People love to cook and it's a nature that they always remain keen to take different tastes of food.
Basically, in our country, every woman needs to know how to cooking and they believe it's their responsibility too. Nowadays, the cooking becomes a platform of building a desired career.
When you think about what is a culinary art, you should think what you love to eat. If you are a culinarian (or chef) then you can decide what your ingredients will be! There are specific cooking methods and techniques that chef has to learn, but it depends on chef choice which method he/she wants to use. Chef can create fusions between different types of cuisines, or something that is completely unique. When someone is earning a culinary arts degree he/she will have the chance to learn about all these different possibilities.
Considering the magnitude of this profession, the Daily Observer today presents some expert culinary artistes, who struggled hard to thrive here and finally have taken this sector in great height, showing their utmost passion.
All of them were in different sectors but passion has driven them to bring here in culinary section. All of them did professional training in cooking section at different institutions but at the same time used their imagination power to make it an art. Thereby they won many awards and accolades still keep pouring on them.
Nazia Farhana, an established culinary artist in Bangladesh, has been passion to cooking since her childhood. Nowadays that passion turns into obsession as well as profession. Though she holds a Master's degree in English, she choose the cooking as a profession. Now she is working at Swapno Super Shop as culinary instructor at Bangladesh Technical Education Board as an assessor of cooking. Her recipes are regularly publishing in Bangladeshi and Indian media. Not only recipes but also she writes food column on newspaper. She participated in some national cooking reality show where she secured 2nd runners up position on Shera Radhuni 1424 and 6th runners up on Chef of the Year. Dessert and Baking expert Nazia has a cooking school named Shanta's Cuisine. Besides, she has a youtube channel, same name.
Afroza Naznin Shumi, an MBA holder in HR department, but a good cooker. Sumi is simultaneously a chef, popular culinary artist, presenter, a recipe developer, food stylist, trainer, part-time teacher, associate editor, freelancer photographer, amateur model, actress and what not. She is one in many. She has special training on cooking and has a national certificate course on food and beverage production from Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation; and thereafter she did her internee from Radisson Blu Water Garden.
She began her television career with a cooking show 'Live Kitchen' in Jamuna Television in 2015. She had several programme in several TV channels while she still has been anchoring 'Bahari Ranna' programme in ATN Bangladesh since 2017.
Not only the country, she presented cooking show in Indian TV channels also, it is the delight for the country's people.
She was one of the judges in 'Dan Cake Desert Genius-2018.' In fact she was the judges in various cooking show including 'The Culinary Diva-2018 ' in Kolkata. She also conducted a workshop on Bangladeshi food in Kolkata invited by Sananda Club in 16th August in 2018.
She has been being a mentor of Bangladesh Youth Enterprise Advice and Help Center (BYEAH) since 2018.
Her recipe has been published regularly in the top newspaper, magazine, online and various social media outlet. She was engaged in a lifestyle magazine 'The Pages' as associate editor. She has several awards to show for her immense contribution in the culinary field. Currently she has been writing an exceptional book cooking so that the people could learn many things about this art. She also has the desire open a restaurant to make more experiment on her cooking.
Taslima Jahan Swatee is a pastry & bakery chef of Imperial Suites and Convention Center. She graduated in mathematics and was in teaching profession for last 10 years. But now she is a renowned culinary artist.
She had a school named Sunshine Cadet Academy. She is serving a baking assessor and baking & food processing and quality controller of Bangladesh Technical Education Board from 2018.
She was also food instructor in Jatio Mohila Sangstha from January 2011 to December 2016.
Taslima struggled as he faced obstacle from her family to establish career in this profession but she broke it and held her head high. Now, her husband understands it is a prestigious profession and motivates her more.
Shumsun Nahar Ahmed (Mita), first, attended southern region cake festival in 1995 with 45 items cake and won it. After that she took baking course in 1996 and started the job. She took the order on baking food and supplied in Bhola district.
Now she is a proprietor of Jubo Mitas Ghorony and trainer of Durpath at Desh TV (pickle expert). She is a member in many associations like--cooking association Bangladesh, Bakers & Cake designers association, Women's Empowerment Organization (WEO) and Center for Human Rights Movement.
She is the assistant training secretary of Bangabandhu Foundation. She is also a recipe writer in a magazine Swad kahon and a mentor of Bangladesh Youth Enterprise Advice Help Center (BYEAH).
Kakoli Saha, another renowned culinary artist. She had early marriage but her husband was keen to see her established. She found job in teaching profession. But Saha became pregnant at that time and couldn't maintain the profession. After one and half year she came to the capital with her husband. She saw many women doing well in cooking profession and she entered here after doing some training and courses.
Now she is a common face in the section and people know her very well as a cooker. She has a cooking school named Right kitchen.
Dllruba Begum Fancy, very agile and funny woman, is a famous culinary artist. From the childhood she wants to make her career as professor. But after HSC exam she got a job in family planning. At the same time she got married and she couldn't continue job but she continued study and she admitted in Dhaka University in Arts Department. She completed her graduation in IER from same university and she did M.Ed. After that she joined Anirban School and worked here for two years.
So, her mother and grandmother used to make different tasty food and she got the initial training on cooking from them. Her father was her inspiration. But her husband wants building career on teaching profession.

Kanij Fatema Sohagi, a distinguished culinary artist of Bangladesh loves to experiment and creates excellent fusion on food. Most importantly she always tries to make something unique with the touch of tradition. She is working as coordinator at kejo Bibis cooking school and as a baking assessor in technical education board. However, a good portion of women in Bangladesh especially in capital is not getting desired job, in spite of having their qualification. Since cooking is becoming a good profession, women can choose this profession.
