People suffer for broken bridge at Bauphal

BAUPHAL, PATUAKHALI, July 18: People of Madanpura Union in Bauphal Upazila of the district have been suffering for long for a broken bridge on Dwipasha-Majhpara Canal.
Though the bridge broke about one year ago, not steps have been taken to repair it.
Concerned sources said students of different educational institutions, including Uttar Dwipasha Government Primary School, Paschim Madanpura Government Primary School, Madanpura Board Government Primary School, Dwipasha Dakhil Madrasa, Sonamuddin Mridha Secondary School and Kanakdia Sir Salimullah School and College cross the bridge regularly amid risk.
Madanpura Union Parishad Chairman Golam Mostofa said there is risk of accidents anytime while crossing the bridge.
He demanded immediate repair of the bridge.
In this connection, Upazila Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department Jahurul Islam said they informed the condition of the bridge to the higher authority. Steps will be taken to repair the bridge soon.
