Flood inundating fresh areas in Bogura
Flood situation in Bogura district continues to deteriorate further by submerging fresh areas.
According to Water Development Board (WDB), Bogura water of the Jamuna River is flowing 126 centimeters above the danger level at Mathura point at 12 noon on Thursday.
Twenty-seven villages in three upazilas--Sonatala, Sariakandi and Dhunot--went under water today. A total of 554 villages are submerged in last three days and 1.24 lakh people of 31,000 families in those upazilas are languishing due to flood.
Flood water damaged standing crops on about 8,978 hectares in three upazilas, said district relief and rehabilitation official Azhar Ali Mandal.
Sixty-four primary schools and 12 secondary schools in Sonatala and Sariakandi upazilas were closed after being hit by flood.
