People suffer for deplorable roads at Bauphal
BAUPHAL, PATUAKHALI, July 17: People of Bauphal Upazila in the district are suffering much for deplorable condition of two roads here.
According to field sources, two to three foot deep potholes were created from the VDC to Bhanga Bridge and Kashipur Bazaar to Lohalia Kheya Ghat on the Kalaiya-Lohalia Road. This road is the only connecting road with Patuakhali District headquarters.
After the start of the rainy season, the road has become water-logged and unusable. So, the people of Bauphal, Dashmina and Galachipa upazilas are suffering much.
Locals complained that the road was repaired in the last fiscal year where low-quality materials were used. So, it has become deplorable very soon.
Chairman of Adabaria Union Parishad Shamsul Haque said thousands of people use this road to go Patuakhali town. But they are suffering due to its deplorable condition.
In this connection, Executive Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department Tirtha Jit Roy said, Kalaiya-Lohalia road will be repaired soon.
Meanwhile, the condition of Bauphal-Kalishuri-Barishal Road is also bad. A contractor company Mahfuz Khan Enterprise, under the supervision of Roads and Highways Division, is repairing the road. But, due to slow repair work, people of Bauphal and Barishal are suffering much.
Kalishuri Union Parishad Chairman Principal Nesar Uddin Jamal Shikder said, the repairing work is going slow.
RHD Executive Engineer Shah Md Shams Mokaddes said, "We are working to expand and repair the highway. The problem will be solved very soon."
