Thrust on building crime-free society

KHULNA, July 17: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, at a human chain on Wednesday, urged people for building awareness about women and children oppression, rape, drugs and militancy side by side government's initiatives for ensuring crime-free society.
Everybody should boycott such type of criminals and avoid all kinds of social relationship as they create obstruction for country's development, he said.
Mayor also demanded highest punishment for these criminals, and reformation of law for curbing women and children oppression, rape and illegal drug trading.
He was addressing as chief guest at the human chain at Picture Palace intersection of the city.
Swadhinata Sangbadik Forum, a pro-liberation unity of journalists, Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ), Khulna Television Reporters Unity and TV Camera Journalists Association jointly organised the programme aiming to curb illegal drug trading, women and children rape and oppression, terrorism and militancy to ensure country's sustainable development for marching Bangladesh towards a middle income country by 2021 and developed country by 2041.
Swadhinata Sangbadik Forum President Freedom Fighter Mokbul Hossain Mintu chaired the programme while Chairman of Khulna Zila Parishad Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid addressed as chief guest.
President of Khulna Football Association Advocate Saiful Islam, former President of Khulna Lawyers' Association Advocate Sarder Anisur Rahman Poplu, General Secretary (GS) of Khulna City Puja Udjapan Parishad Prashanta Kumar Kundu, GS of Khulna Sramik League Ranjit Ghosh, senior journalists Ahmed Ali Khan, A K Hiru, Sheikh Abu Hassan, Faruk Ahmed, Mallick Sudhangshu, KUJ GS Sayeduzzaman Samrat, addressed, among others.
