Cattle from India not allowed before Eid-ul-Azha

The government has decided to keep shut bringing cattle from India through border before Eid-ul Azha for the interest of local traders and farmers as the country has more cattle than probable demand.

The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The Eid may fall on August 12, subject to appearance of moon. This year as many as 1.10 crore will be slaughtered, according to the ministry.

The country has now more than 8 lakh sacrificial animals for slaughtering during Eid.
