Salman Tells ERF, ISC Workshop
Assistance, incentives on cards for diversifying exports
Adviser to the Prime Minister on private industries and investment Salman F Rahman, MP said like the garment sector, country's other sectors will get assistance and incentives for boosting and diversifying exports.
Speaking at a workshop on "Export Diversification of Bangladeshi Products," as the chief guest he the readymade garment sector, other sectors are being given impetus to diversify and boost exports.
Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) and International Finance Corporation (ISC) jointly organized the workshop on Tuesday. IFC Senior Economist Dr Moshrur Riaz and Private Sector Specialist Hosna Ferdous and ERF General Secretary SM Rashidul Islam were present at the workshop. ERF President Siaful islam Dilal presided over the meeting.
Salman F Rahman underscored the need for easing doing business in the country removing all the relevant bottlenecks and officials cumbersome policies and bureaucratic red tapes.
He said that the government will built technical institutions at the Upazila level to create entrepreneurship in the country. The selection of trainers to complete the new entrepreneur has been completed. The new entrepreneurs will be trained in 64 districts with a slogan "Do not want jobs, I want to give jobs".
Rahman said Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) is going to complete all process to provide the One-Stop Service (OSS) within 4/5 months this year with a view to facilitating both local and foreign investors to invest in Bangladesh.
Salman Rahman, also the Beximco Group Vice Chairman, informed that BIDA, Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and hi-tech park will get OSS service.
He said that the export of garment products has diversification in last 20 years. Before this, we have exported ready garment (RMG) products in United State (US) and European Union (EU). But now RMG products exported to many countries in the world.
