Mizan, Bachhir sued over bribe scandal
A case has been filed against police's controversial DIG Mizanur Rahman and Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) dismissed director Khandaker Enamul Bachhir over an allegation of taking bribe.
The case was lodged after veracity of audio clip of conversation about bribe taking in forensic test.
ACC director Sheikh Md Fanafilla on Tuesday filed this case at Dhaka Coordinated District Office-1.
DIG Mizan in a television interview claimed that ACC Director Enamul Bachhir took Tk 4 million in bribe from him promising that he would be excluded from the allegation. Bachhir also divulged the information during the investigation, he said.
However, the ACC director refuted the allegation.
Audio clips of mobile conversations between DIG Mizan and Enamul Bachhir were aired on television. Following the allegation, the ACC formed an inquiry committee headed by ACC Secretary Muhammad Delwar Bakht.
On May 3 last year, ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwary interrogated Mizan about his alleged illegal wealth. Later, Bachhir was entrusted with the investigation against him.
Mizan was withdrawn as additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police following a marital scandal in January last year.
