‘Drug dealer’ killed in N’ganj ‘gunfight’
A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Sadar upazila of Narayanganj early Tuesday.
Deceased Biplob, 31, was a resident of Chadmari area in the upazila. He was accused in 14 cases filed under Narcotics Control Act, police said.
Qamrul Islam, sub-inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police in Narayanganj, said acting on a tip-off, a DB team conducted a drive in Chadmari area around 2:30am.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back in self-defence which triggered a gunfight.
Later, police found Biplob dead on the spot, added the official.
Two policemen were also injured in the gunfight.
