Prices of vegetable, fish go up in kitchen markets
RAJSHAHI, July 13: Prices of vegetables and fish saw an unusual hike in local kitchen markets due to supply shortage.
Though the price of meat and groceries remained unchanged, fish price has increased by Tk 5 to 10 in a week. Vegetable price has increased by Tk 3 to 5.
In Shaheb Bazaar vegetable market, fish prices increased notably. Bele fish was selling at Tk 600 to 800, shrimp at Tk 400, pabda at Tk 500 to 550, catfish at Tk 550 to 650, small and medium size shrimp at Tk 550 to 700, hilsa at Tk 800 to 900.
Jahidul, a buyer said, though it is rainy season, fish price increased by Tk 10 to 20 per kg.
Besides, different sizes of rui and katla fish were selling at Tk 220 to 350, tilapia at Tk 140 to 160, hybrid koi at Tk 165 to 200 and pangas at Tk 130 to 150 per kg.
Seller Ripon said, fish price increased due to lack of sufficient supply.
In the vegetable market, brinjal sells at Tk 50, papaya at Tk 35, potato at Tk 18, and pepper at Tk 70 to 80 per kg.
Lemon sells at Tk 8 Tk 16 per hali, and local onion sells at Tk 35 to 40.
Beef price went up by Tk 10 to 20 per kg, selling at Tk 530. Broiler chicken now sells at Tk 130, sonali poultry at Tk 170 to 180, and local chicken at Tk 190 to 200 per kg.
