Municipality employees go for indefinite strike from today

BOGURA, July 13: Employees of 328 municipalities across the country will observe indefinite work abstention from July 14 next, demanding their wages and allowances be paid from government's revenue fund instead of municipality fund.
In this connection, a press conference was held at Bogra Press Club on Wednesday noon.
District unit President of Bangladesh Pourashabha Services Association Mamunur Rashid said in a written speech that all municipality employees will observe the programme simultaneously at central Shahid Minar in Dhaka. So no services will be provided at their workplaces on that day.
He also said officers and employee of 328 municipalities have been leading a miserable life as they did not get salaries for several months. In some cases, employees have not been paid salaries for more than 60 months.
He urged the government to pay their salaries, and end their miseries.
Among others, Bogra Municipality Executive Engineer Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal, and Assistant Engineer Abu Zafar Md Reza were also present.
