Jamuna flows above danger level in Jamalpur

The overall flood situation in Jamalpur has worsened as water of the Jamuna river is now flowing 31 centimetres above the danger level at Bahadurabad Point on Saturday.

Onrush of water from upstream and incessant rainfall caused the flood.

Around 6,000 people of different areas, including Chinaduli, Shingbhanga, Babna, East Babna, Dewanpara, Karuitala, Debraipach, under Chinaduli union in Islampur upazila have been trapped in floodwater.

Water is entering in locality through different parts as different roads, and flood control embankment collapsed in flood in 2017.  

Sources in Water Development Board (WDB) said water of the Jamuna river rose 46 centimeters in last 24 hours at Bahadurabad Point.
