Rohingya siblings drown in Cox’s Bazar


Two Rohingya siblings drowned in surging hill waters at Hakimpara in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Thursday night.

Deceased Anwar Sadek, 7, and Anwar Foysal, 6, were the sons of Abdus Salam, a refugee in Block 16 of Hakimpara Rohingya Camp.

Hakimpara Rohingya Camp police outpost in-charge SI Anobik Chakma confirmed the matter.

The boys went to Hakimpara field to play on Thursday morning, but did not return home in the evening.

At one stage of searching, local people found the bodies floating in the watery field around 9.00pm.

Being informed, police rushed the spot and recovered the bodies.
