Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow steady in run chase
Coming out to chase 224, England openers Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler gave a solid start. Earlier, Australia are bundled out for 223 despite Steve Smith’s 85.
Adil Rashid was the pick of bowlers for England as he picked three wickets - including the one of Alex Carey and Marcus Stoinis in the same over. The off-spinner also dismissed Pat Cummins.
The defending champions found themselves in a spot of bother with England pacers dismissed David Warner, skipper Aaron Finch and Peter Handscomb cheaply.
NDTV adds: Steve Smith top-scored for Australia with 85 runs. He got a decent support from Alex Carey who scored 46 runs despite a bleeding jaw. Glen Maxwell and Mitchell Starc also played valuable knocks of 22 and 29 respectively.
Earlier, England, bidding to reach their first final since 1992, made a sensational start against the reigning champions, taking three early wickets to leave Aaron Finch's side in deep trouble. Prolific opening pair David Warner and Finch, as well as Peter Handscomb, were all back in the pavilion by the seventh over.
Smith and Alex Carey (46) steadied the innings with a fourth-wicket stand of 103 before leg-spinner Adil Rashid struck twice in five balls to leave Australia 118-5.
The dangerous Glenn Maxwell then holed out to England captain Eoin Morgan off the bowling of Jofra Archer for 22 and Pat Cummins was caught by Joe Root to give Rashid another victim.
