Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the envoys' conference in London on July 20 to give necessary directives to all Bangladesh envoys posted in 15 EU countries.
The Prime Minister will fly to the UK on July 19, according to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
"This will be the second conference of this kind. The PM will hear from the envoys of their experiences and discuss the challenges in securing the national interest of Bangladesh in EU countries," a senior official of the Foreign Ministry said.
He said Rohingya issue will be the focal point this time as the government wants to get full support
from the EU countries in the upcoming UNGC (United Nations General Committee) meeting.
The conference aims to discuss issues ranging from foreign policy challenges to implementation of development goals, expansion of trade, welfare of the Bangladeshi expatriates and projection of Bangladesh as a responsible and peace-loving state in the world.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the first conference said the government wants to solve the Rohingya crisis keeping the 'good relations' with neighbouring Myanmar unharmed.
'We want to resolve the crisis keeping the good relations with the neighbors,' she mentioned. "We are planning to have a four-day conference beginning from July 20," said an official.
The new government is formulating its foreign policy plans and it wants to execute it as soon as possible.
The top political leadership will give the directives, he said. The conference will more or less follow the previous format, he added.
The first envoys' conference was held in November 2017 and the inaugural session was attended by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and she also had a close-door session. There were five separates session on different themes that include Rohingya, development and consular.
