Otto Spinning Mills workers demand arrears


Workers of Otto Spinning Limited, burned down in a fire on June 2, on Sunday staged sit-in on the factory premises in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur demanding their arrear salaries.

Gazipur Industrial Police Inspector Md Iskandar Habib said workers gathered in front the factory around 10.30am and staged demonstration demanding the their salary for the month of June. Later, they called off the demo following assurance by the factory authorities.





Md Harun-ur-Rashid, general manager of the factory, said the authorities will start paying salaries to the workers from Monday if they join works.

The mill remained closed since July 2 following a massive fire that left six people dead and burned down the warehouse of cotton and yarns.
