Muktijuddho Moncho gives 48-hr ultimatum to Obaidul Quader
Muktijuddho Moncho, a platform of freedom fighters' children, has issued an ultimatum asking Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader to make an apology by 48 hours for his statement
regarding members of anti-liberation families' joining Awami League.
Moncho convener Prof AKM Jamal Uddin issued the ultimatum from a press conference held at the Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA) office on Thursday afternoon.
The leaders also threatened to wage a tougher movement with AL leaders and activists for resignation of Obaidul Quader if he does not seek apology.
On June 30 at AL party office, the Road transport and bridges minister said that it would not be a problem for becoming an Awami League member if anyone in the family is war criminal or Jamaat member.
But on Thursday at secretariat, Obaidul Quader, also the Awami League general secretary , said he did not make any statement last week and added that there is no room for war criminal family members in his party.
In a written statement, Jamal Uddin said, "Such kind of speech made by the AL general secretary is clearly against the spirit of Liberation War and country's independence. That's why we (Muktijuddho Moncho) are rejecting his statement and expect his apology to the nation by 48 hours."
He announced to form a human chain at Shahbagh intersection at 5pm on July 6.
