Jubo League man severely beaten up by 'fellows'

A Jubo League activist has been severely beaten up allegedly by his party men in Bishwa Colony area under Akbar Shah Police Station of Chattogram city.

Injured Md Mohsin, is a follower of Uttar Pahartali Ward Awami League joint convener Sarwar Murshed.

He is now undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Police, however, arrested five persons as a video clip of the attack went viral on social media platform Facebook on Monday.

The video footage showed that a group of 8/10 youths equipped with iron rod and sticks swooped on Mohsin  and beat him mercilessly.

Later, they left Mohsin assuming him dead.

After examining the video footage, police arrested Md Saju, Md Tareq, Belal Hossain, Md Miraz and Md Masud.

A knife was also seized from the possession of Saju.

They all said to be Jubo League activists and followers of Uttar Pahartali ward councillor Jahurul Alam Jasim, also the ward AL joint convenor.

Mohsin was attacked over intra-party feud. He was released on bail from Chattogram Central Jail on Saturday.

Akbar Shah Police Station officer in-charge Jasim Uddin said police have arrested five people over the incident and a hunt is on to arrest the other accused.

However, councillor Jasim denied the allegation and said Mohsin was beaten by by his own men.
