RP Shaha murder case verdict Thursday
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has set Thursday to deliver its verdict in a case filed over the abduction and murder of philanthropist Ranada Prasad Shaha (RP Shaha) and his son in 1971.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam, fixed the date on Wednesday.
Ranada Prasad Shaha was founder of the Kumidini Welfare Trust.
On April 24, the tribunal kept the verdict CAV (Curia Advisari Vult) after the prosecution and defence finished closing arguments.
The lone accused, Mahbubur Rahman, 69, of Mirzapur in Tangail, has been in jail since November in 2016 and pleaded not guilty. He is facing three charges.
The prosecution has filed three charges including abduction and murder of a prominent social worker Ranada Prasad Saha, arson attack, and genocide against Mahbub.
Accused Mahbubur Rahman hails from Boiratipara in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail.
