3 'human traffickers' killed in 'shootout'



Three suspected human traffickers were killed in a 'gunfight' with policemen in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified Korban Ali, 30, son of Abdur Shukkur, Abdul Quader, 25, son of Ali Hossain, and Abdur Rahman, 30, son of Sultan Ahmed.

On secret information, a team of police conducted a drive at Moheshkhalia Para Ghat around 2:45am when the trio were staying there, said Teknaf Police Station OC Pardip Kumar Das.

Sensing their presence, the human traffickers opened fire on the team, forcing the policemen to fire back for self-defence.

Later, three bullet--hit traffickers were taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where they were declared dead.

Police also recovered three fire arms and 15 bullets from the spot.
