Shakib’s all round show hands Bangladesh 62-run win
Bangladesh won by 62 runs against Afghanistan on Monday.
Shakib al Hasan starred for Bangladesh as he picked up a fifer to rattle Afghanistan’s middle order.
The allrounder also scored a fifty, thus becoming the only player after Yuvraj Singh to pick five wickets and score a half century in a World Cup match.
Earlier, Mushfiqur Rahim starred for Bangladesh as he hammered 83 runs to help Bangladesh reach 262/7 in 50 overs.
Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored with a gritty 83, powering Bangladesh past the 250-run mark. He ability to play spin was on show and he managed to keep the Afghan spinners at bay before being dismissed in the penultimate over. His 87-ball 83-run knock was laced with four boundaries and a six.
Shakib Al Hasan was yet again remarkable. He reclaimed top spot on the World Cup 2019 leading run-scorers list with a fine 69-ball 51-run inning.
His sensible knock came after Bangladesh suffered an early blow in the form of Liton Das. Mosaddek Hossain played a fine cameo, scoring a quick-fire 24-ball 35 before being bowled on the last ball of the Bangladesh innings.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the leading wicket-taker for Afghanistan, ending with figures of 3/39 in his 10 overs. Skipper Gulbadin Nain also claimed two wickets while Dawlat Zadran and Mohammad Nabi picked one wicket each. A few misfields and occasional overthrows also added to Bangladesh's total.
