Saifuddin, Mosaddek in XI
Afghanistan win toss, send BD to bat first
Afghanistan captain Gulbadin Naib won the toss on Monday against Bangladesh at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, and opted to bowl first amid the overcast condition.
The toss was delayed by 10 minutes due to drizzle and wet outfield.
Bangladesh brought Mohammad Saifuddin and Mosaddek Hossain backed to the team after they missed the previous match due to injuries.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, also made two changes to their playing XI as Dawlat Zadran and Samiullah Shenwari came in to replace Aftab Alam and Hazratullah Zazai.
Before heading to this match, Bangladesh have played six matches in the World Cup and won only two of them. They suffered three losses with one match was washed out due to rain.
However, this is not enough to prove how Bangladesh have been doing in the World Cup. They gave a real scare to New Zealand while falling short of just two wickets. They also did well against Australia in an attempt of chasing 381 runs. The only big defeat of them came against England when they lost by 106 runs at Cardiff.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, lost all of their six matches in the World Cup so far. Their only memorable display came in the last match against India when they were so close to pulling off a historic win against the Indians. However, a last-over hat-trick from Mohammad Shami prevented them to win that game just for 11 runs.
