Two convicted in drug cases in Feni
FENI, June 17: The local court here has sentenced two convicts in two separate narcotics cases on Sunday.
Senior Judge Hakim Tania declared the verdicts.
Of the two convicts, one is sent to jail, and the other one, after getting released in bail, fled away.
According to the court sources, members of police arrested a drug trader with 27 pieces of yaba near PTI gate area of the district on 14 September 2017.
The arrested is identified as Md Shah Alam, 30, of Garhoi Village under Nikli Upazia of Kishoreganj District.
In this connection, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the city police circle Md Kamal Hossain filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act.
In the verdict, the convict got one year and six-month rigorous conviction, fined Tk 5,000, in default one month jail. The convict fled away.
On the other hand, members of police have arrested another drug peddler with 20 pieces of yaba from Bothania Road beside Reju Mia Bridge of Chagolnaiyya Police Station (PS) on June 14, 2017.
The arrested is identified as Samsul Alam alias Babul, 32, of North Bathania Village under Chagolnaiyya Upazia of the district.
The SI of Chagolnaiyya PS Md Shahjahan filed a case under Anti-Narcotics Act.
In the verdict, the convict got one year and three-month rigorous jail, fined Tk 3,000, in default 15-day jail.
The convict has been sent to jail.
