Courier service providers busy with mango consignment
RAJSHAHI, June 16: Courier service providers of the district are now busy carrying local mangoes to different regions of the country including Dhaka.
A few varieties of mangoes are now being sent, but after the end of this week, more varieties of mango will be sent, which will boost their business, said some courier service providers.
On Saturday, city's courier service centres were seen busy packing and dispatching mangoes. Some employees were calculating weight, some were counting money and some were writing addresses on the packets.
Alam Hossen of Karatoa Courier Service said, about 100 maunds of mangoes in 220 baskets are going to different places of the country every day.
"We charge Tk 12 per kilogram of consignment. Hopefully our business will be better within a week. Higher quantity of Langra mango will be sent at that time," he also said.
Dulal, in-charge of Kumarpara Sundarban Courier Service in the city, said they are charging Tk 12 for sending per kg mango to Dhaka and Tk 16 outside Dhaka.
Shohag Hossen, who came to send mango through Karatoa Courier Service, said, "I am sending six maunds of Gopalbhog and one maund of other mangoes to Mohakhali in Dhaka and Narsingdi District."
