Zonal round begins tomorrow
JFA U14 girls' national football With the participation of only 39 teams, the zonal round of the fifth edition JFA Under-14 Girls' National Football Championship is beginning tomorrow (Monday) in different zones of the country.
The zonal round will be played in six zones including Jessore, Khagrachari, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Rangpur.
Among the zones, Jessore and Khagrachari is beginning their round on Monday while Gopalganj set to begin on Tuesday, Mymensingh beginning on Wednesday and Rajshahi and Rangpur are expected to begin their round on 25th June.
The zonal round will be played in knock out system.
A total of eight teams, the champion teams of six zones and two best runners-up of the zonal round, will get chance to play the final round to be held in Dhaka from 10th July. The final round will be played in league system.
The participating teams of the zonal round will get Taka 15,000 as participation money and the teams to play the final round in Dhaka will get Taka 20,000 as participation money. Besides, the winner of each zone will get Taka 5,000 as prize money.
On the other hand, the champion of final will receive Taka 50,000 and runner-up Taka 25,000 as prize money.
Apparently, the women wing of Bangladesh Football Federation is still not taking serious steps to increase the number of participating teams. Women wing chief of BFF Mahfuza Akter Kiron said that they could not pull in many teams due to school examinations and could not arrange the event in good time due to venue unavailability for the final round in Dhaka.
