Bangladesh received a huge blow ahead of their clash against West Indies as batsman Mushfiqur Rahim got a fresh injury scare during a net session on Saturday at the Somerset Cricket ground in Taunton.
Mushfiqur Rahim left the ground immediately afterwards with Bangladesh physio Thihan Chandramohan, UNB reports.
However, the team management is yet to reveal the details about Mushfiqur’s blow. As per the latest report from Taunton, the right-handed batsman is taking initial treatment.
Right after Mushfiqur’s incident, a local net bowler, who is helping Bangladeshi batsmen prepare for their next game, got a blow on his head when Mohammad Saifuddin played a shot during the net session.
Thihan had to come out again to treat that bowler. As per the latest development, the young bowler stopped bowling at the net and took initial treatment.
BSS adds: When contacted Bangladesh team manager Khaled Mahmud said, they were yet to know the extent of the injury.
“For the time being, he was being administered with ice. He has pain on his hand as far as I know. We have to wait to get the final report on the extent of his injury,” he said.
Mushfiqur is one the Bangladesh’s batting stalwarts who over the years played some magnificent knocks to help the side winning in many important matches.
The diminutive batsman was the team’s highest scorer in Bangladesh’s first match against South Africa in this World Cup, hitting a 80 ball-78 runs knock. He hasn’t scored as per his reputation in the last two completed games of Bangladesh against New Zealand and England though.
Bangladesh are now gearing up for their next game in the World Cup against West Indies on June 17 at the Taunton.
