Azeemah Ali

The moment she stepped out of the airport
I could see the love, the joy in her eyes
She inhaled a breath of fresh air
The fresh air of her home

The moment she stepped into that house
I could see her eyes brimming with tears
She hugged the one she loved most, the one she was closest to
She hugged her mother

The moment she stepped into that school
I could see her eyes fill with sympathy, with compassion
And she did what she did best
She taught the students

The moment she left
It was as if the world had stopped
The bright, happy presence was gone
Who would teach the students?
Who would comfort her mother?

But she needed to go......

Because her daughter needed her

The poet is a Grade VI student in Austin Texas, USA
