46 injured in clashes in two districts
At least 46 people were injured in separate clashes in two districts- Gopalganj and Sirajganj, in two days.
GOPALGANJ: A total of 31 persons were injured in separate clashes at Bashbaria Union Parishad Bhaban under Muksudpur Upazila and Singipara Village under Tungipara Upazila of the district on Wednesday.
In Muksudpur Upazila, the injured persons are Palash Munshi, 45, Shaon Sheikh, 30, Torikul Molla, 35, Md Nishan Sheikh, 40, and Shiplu Munshi, 26. They were admitted to 250-Bed Gopalganj General Hospital.
The rest injured have received treatment at Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex and Bhanga Health Complex.
On the other hand, in Tungipara Upazila, among the injured persons Sohrab Khan, 35, Saddam Khan, 32, Habej Sardar, 34, and Parul Begum, 50, were admitted to Gopalganj Hospital and Rana Khan, 22, and Rabib Khan, 26, were admitted to Tungipara Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muksudpur Police Station (PS) Mostafa Kamal Pasha said Member of Bashbaria UP Delwar Hossen and Palash Munshi had a clash over establishing supremacy for long.
The day after the Eid, they had dispute over providing the poor with donation.
On Tuesday, they had a fight again. In this connection, the supporters of the two groups with locally made weapons clashed with one another. In an hour long fight, at least 25 persons were injured.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Till filing the report, no group filed case.
On the other hand, Tungipara PS OC AKM Enamul Haque Kabir said there was an allegation that Shariful Islam, son of Parul Begum of the upazila had stolen goods from Sohel Khan's shop at Singipara. Based on the allegations, he was beaten.
In this connection, both parties got involved in a clash, leaving six of both parties injured.
SIRAJGANJ: At least 15 people including women were injured in a clash between two mahallas at Goyla area of Sirajganj Municipality on Tuesday morning.
Of the injured, Mala Khatun, Sagor Hossen, Alauddin, Meraz Uddin, Hridoy, Shahin and Salam were given treatment at Sirajganj Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital.
During the clash, three houses, one shop and one motorcycle were vandalised.
Sadar PS OC Mohammad Daud said the situation is under control now.
