178 get MBAJ education scholarship
A total of 178 students of Dhaka Division achieved the Mercantile Bank-Abdul Jalil (MBAJ) Education Scholarship-2018 at a ceremony at FARS Hotel & Resorts in the capital on Wednesday.
Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Welfare Ministry Rashed Khan Menon attended the awarding ceremony as the chief guest, while Chairman of Mercantile Bank Limited (MBL) AKM Shaheed Reza was present on the occasion as the special guest, said a press release.
Chairman of Mercantile Bank Foundation M Amanullah presided over the ceremony, while MBL Managing Director and CEO Md Quamrul Islam Chowdhury delivered his address of welcome on the occasion.
Lawmaker (Naogaon-5) Barrister Nizam Uddin Jalil (Jon), the bank's Vice-chairman ASM Feroz Alam, Executive Committee Chairman Akram Hossain (Humayun), Risk Management Committee Chairman Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah and Director Mosharref Hossain, and Additional Police Commissioner (DMP) Rejaul Alam spoke in the ceremony.
The bank's AMD Mati Ul Hasan, DMDs GWM Mortaza, Md Zakir Hossain and Adil Raihan and other senior executives attended the programme along with students, guardians, journalists and dignitaries.
Of the 178 students, 61 were autistic and physically challenged students, 50 students from DMP police members' children and 67 as general students of JSC, SSC and HSC levels.
Mercantile Bank will award scholarships to 1,129 students from all over the country at a total amount of Tk 1,70,00,000.00 as scholarship this year.
