AL wants strong Oikyafront for democracy, says Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said the ruling party wants a strong and united Oikyafront as a strong opposition is needed for democracy.
He came up with the remark at a press conference after a joint meeting of the Awami League and its associate bodies at party's Bangabandhu Avenue Central Office on
Tuesday. The meeting was arranged to bolster the preparation for celebrating the party's 70th founding anniversary on June 23.
"We want a strong and responsible opposition inside and outside the parliament," the AL general secretary said.
On European Union's concern over the heath of jailed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, the AL general secretary said the government does not feel any pressure in this regard.
He said BNP expressed concern about the health of Khaleda Zia but the medical board don't have any concern about her heath.
Quader said the foreigners wanted better treatment of Khaleda Zia during her detention and the government is providing better treatment for the BNP chief.
